Many human diseases are believed to be caused by undiscovered pathogens. The advent of next-generation sequencing technology presents an unprecedented opportunity to identify pathogens in hitherto idiopathic diseases. Quick Biology has developed a novel method called QuickPathgen which exhibits high sensitivity and specificity in its ability to discriminate human from nonhuman sequences using transcriptome and whole-genome sequencing data. QuickPathgen first map the total reads to the human genome and then collect unmapped reads from the total reads. QuickPathgen finally mapped the reads to our database which include the bacterial, fungal and virus genome data and identified which pathogen may infect the patient.
